The Magico S-SUB employs a pair of front-firing 13” drivers engineered specifically for this application. This drive unit features a two-layer 75mm voice coil with 0.6” of linear excursion in both directions, delivering powerful, low-distortion bass. The driver is rated at 550W RMS (continuous) with even greater capability at peak output. A super-stiff aluminum cone provides an ideal balance of rigidity and low mass, while an advanced motor system—with multiple copper shorting rings—ensures a highly stabilized magnetic field, reduced inductance variation, and minimal distortion. To support extreme linear travel, the spider incorporates woven-in tensile wires. The result is a driver optimized for maximum SPL with vanishingly low distortion.
The S-SUB’s enclosure was engineered through a combination of advanced computer simulation and rigorous physical testing to meet Magico’s uncompromising standards for rigidity, durability, and acoustic neutrality. Finite Element Analysis (FEA) guided the optimization of all structural elements, followed by extensive prototyping to confirm and refine the design. This R&D effort produced a thick, aluminum cabinet featuring innovative bracing and the most advanced damping materials available—yielding an enclosure with virtually no audible contribution.
